Tiling -- not fun

So these photos represent the last two weekends of our lives. Needless to say, we will never, never, never again tile an area this large ourselves. Whatever the charge, we'll find a way to pay... Oh, and as you can tell, we picked yet another tile. 3rd time's the charm.

Countertop installed!

Painting, part two

The color the room is!

Painting fun

The color the room will not be.

New tile

Well, the old tile, posted weeks ago, is out because it looked too peachy-pinky in the light. Here's what's in. Same stuff -- travertine -- but larger (18") tiles and different color. You can't really tell in this photo, but there's more gray in it to pick up the color in the countertop.

Finishing the drywall

Reaching the end of the messy, dust-provoking, tarp-hanging phase. As you can see, We're trying out color options on the wall!

Tomorrow: sanding.

Walls!

Drywall installation was today. Next on the agenda, mudding and taping.

New furniture for the new room

More room shots

Really looking like a room now!

Cement! (and a blizzard)

So the cement truck happened to be scheduled for the morning that the cities were expecting a winter storm. To give you an idea of how bad the weather was -- the U even closed at 2:30 pm.

Unexpected issue #1

So the ceiling supports ran in an unexpected direction, so they had to cut a hole in the wall in order to connect the tubing for the in-floor heat to the existing boiler. I suppose if it's the only issue, it won't be too bad.

More furniture

Here would be the furniture we don't own yet...

...this couch, but in the below color. (probably)

(Oh, and this is actually for the living room-- building a new room seems to make a person want to purchase all sorts of unrelated items.)

Some furniture.

We already bought two of these chairs, one with a matching ottoman.

More walls!

Floor tiles

Here's our pick for the floor-- travertine.
